Sounds form my PC to An1x

Hei !

How can I get sounds (*syx and *an1 firnat) from PC to my AN1x ?
The AN1x editor does not work under Windows XP professional (SP2). To be correct - you can not install it under Windows XP - the installer will not even start.

I have Midi Quest XL 10, is it possible to send with it ? How can I set AN1X to recieve ?

And secondly - is 128 voices the overall memory, or is there 128 preset voices PLUS user voices ?

the an1xedit installer works under xp in some cases. I'm having the same
problem as you where it won't.

midi quest can send to it, i think it also had a direct control panel for
the synth

128 voices is it, total.

AN1XEDIT DOES WORK WITH XP

128 is the max presets available at any 1 time that for user and factory

you wou;ld write over the factory 1,s with your own

Hi,

I'm surprised that you can't get AN1xEdit to work on XP SP2 as that's what I'm using it on. It may be a dumb question, but do you have the necessary installer application on?

For sysex transfers, any utility like MIDIOX will do

For AN1 transfers then you need something (like AN1xEdit) that understands the AN1 file format.

You may wish to check out an.factory over at www.xfactory-librarians.co.uk to see if it fits your needs, as it also understands AN1 files. This will soon have full database capability and I plan to extend it to include a voice editor. Being Java based, it is fully cross platform on Mac and PC.

PS: I forgot to say that I know nothing about MidiQuest, so can't comment on it.

Also the AN1x has 128 user memory locations, with no additional preset voices.

Some of the antivirus and antispyware applications for XP seem to mess up
16-bit installers.

Hello Tommy !

i'm very surprised of your adventures with AN1x edit and Windows XP... usually it works. Maybe your installation file is corrupted? Try to find an alternative source and retry.
The AN1x has 128 sound memories which are all in RAM, you can overwrite the factory sounds with your own. But there is a reset procedure (see on the group's website... or your user manual) to restore all these sounds if you want.
If you only want to store and load your sound files without any mod you can use "MIDI Ox" which is a freeware esaily available on the web. Of course in this case they are not stored as *.an1 files but as standard MIDI files.

Hi Derek !

I downloaded the AN1x editor from this group files page. I also tried
three different version from internet.
I´ m not only one, who complains that. This installer in made for
Windows 95/98 and NT, but even the compatiblity settings don´t allow
to install it.
The problem is also not in my computer, I tried it on four different
computers, all with XP pro. The installer didn´t work on any of them.

I´ll try the MIDIOX and xfactory-librarians.

Thank you for your answer.I got it working with XP sp2 by downloading version 1.1 which is not on the yamaha site but found it somewhere on the web works fine now and is free.

I have AN1x Editor installed on 4 different computers (2 at home and 2 at work)using XP Pro Service Pack 2. I would try getting a clean installer somewhere, I got mine from a link in the files section, I believe.

I have XP SP2 and the AN1X editor works fine - I love it. Try this - AN150
Editor? Not sure if it works but V1.1 of the AN1X Editor worked for the
AN-150 so I don't see any reason why the AN-150 Editor wouldn't work for the
AN1X.

You can use Midiquest (plain or XL) for the AN1X as a librarian and an
editor. I have demoed this on a Mac and it works. I have not purchased it
yet though as they have only just released the Beta for the AU (Logic)
Plugin for Midiquest XL. Once this is released (at the next NAMM in Jan
hopefully) I will buy....either way....you should be fine.

I can send you my version of the AN1X editor - sounds like it won't make any
difference though.
