Controlling AN200 parameters Lfo2 Rate/Peg/Osctune from midi keyboard possible?

Controlling AN200 parameters Lfo2 Rate/Peg/Osctune from midi keyboard possible?

2009-07-16 by burryluru

Hello!

I have just bought a second hand AN200 unit that is on its way.
I loved the sound of the AN1x i once had, but i didnt like the
8-knobs interface.

This time my idea is to use the AN200 together with a Edirol
midikeyboard, so i dont just have all the AN200 knobs, but can
also control many of the other parameters from the midi keyboard.

To my horror i just saw that in the manual it seems that the only
thing that has a midi CC# number, is the actual knobs on the AN200.

So in that case, there is no way for me to map, the Pitch Envelope,
LFO 2 (?), Osc Semtitone & Tune settings...

Is this really the case? The AN1X had a fully featured CC# mode where
every parameter was covered, if the AN200 is so near the AN1x, why have
they limited it this way. Or is it just that things are not covered in the manual? On page 118-119 the midi CC# mappings are explained.

But why is there no mention of a LFO2 anywhere in the manual? The editor clearly displays another LFO2. But no mention of it in the manual, nothing on the interface...?

Help please. Can i map these hidden parameters from a midi keyboard?

Congrats on the purchase.

You need to re-read the manual: Ch 19, Tip 88, p 105 Tech Talk Control Change In/Out

Also, the MIDI Data Format, p 132 in particular, and the MIDI Implementation Chart will assist you.

Good luck.

AN200 doesn't sound as good as the AN1x so why you 'don't like 8 knobs' but would sacrifice overall key feel, features, and other pros of having the actual AN1x is strange.

I'm not trying to be rude but I seriously can not understand the logic of getting rid of an1x due to 'lack of knobs' (which btw take about a week to become second nature, flying around each subset with the context buttons) and replace with a more convoluted setup of an200 + midi control keyboard.

Each to their own but realise than nothing sounds exactly like the AN1x and that includes the plug in boards AND the AN200.. (though an200 is very close of course).

with:
Encore electronics knobby
or
Mackie C4
or
Novation ReMOTE SL

you can send sysex messages in realtime.
= is 100% possible to control any parameter of the AN1x/AN200/PLG150-AN.

theres no limitation.

Thanks

I agree with Paul : OK the front panel of the AN1x is less user-friendly
than a lot of V.A. synths, think Clavia or Novation. But the keyboard is
very good, 5 octaves, reliable and you have the touch pad for "space
effects" live. And the AN200 is more or less 1/2 AN1x ...
But you can try with a MIDI keyboard - controller full of knobs to your
taste if each knob or push button is user programmable : see the MIDI
implementation chart of the AN200.
Cheers.
