Questions regarding format

2009-01-26 by lvxferro23

Hi,

I was wondering if someone can help me with this question:

It's come time that I may have to part with my An1x. If I do, I want
to make sure that my saved files at a future date are put to good
use. i.e. buying an An200 one day.

I'm wondering if when using An1x edit you can convert the files to
sysex or something and can load them into the An200. Is An1x edit
even compatible with the An200? Do I even have to worry about file
conversion for my patches if I part with the An1x?

Any input is appreciated.

Off topic(if anyone is interested): Couple months ago I was watching
a documentary on bank fraud and in one of the dramatizations they
were playing one of the An1x presets! unfortunately I forget the
name, but remember the patch very well.

Regards,

Jayson

Sorry to hear that, I'm sure more than a few of us have been in similar circumstances. Just
out of curiosity I looked over some complete auctions on eBay and found a pair of AN1x
had recently sold for $290 & $320 and AN200's sold for $250 and $300. Four auctions
may not provide much in the way of an average, but the AN200 numbers were kind of
surprising to me. Had no idea they fetched such a price at this late date.

The SysEx ID header for the AN1x an AN200 is not identical, so if you are able to
successfully upload an AN1x voice into your AN200 using a SysEx dump, the results would
be unpredictable.

You can simply use AN1xEdit, which has a PLG50-AN compatible mode, or AN Expert
Editor to open your .an1 voices and upload them into your AN200.

You're not the only ones who are surprised about the prices the last
2 AN200 modules have gone for. I had just sold an Oberheim Matrix 6R
to fund the purchase of an AN200 to back up my AN1x and hoped I could
get one for $250. Anyway, I gave up at $295 - just below the top bid
of $300. I love the sounds and programmability of the AN1x but I
already haul 3 keyboards (a Roland D-50, a Hammond XK-2 and a Suzuki
SS-100 piano) and dont really want to haul a 4th keyboard unless I
have to....

I picked up my used AN200 for $220 (+ shipping) by watching
http://www.musicgoround.com back in 2007.

Guitar Center also offers used gear: http://used.guitarcenter.com

These sites don't have the "bidding frenzy" like eBay, but you still
have to check often to snag the gear you want before it is gone.

Hi Jon,

Thanks for the info... I'll have to figure how to do that if I
decide to part with it. Hopefully this is included in the specs of
the program itself?

I've had my an1x since July 2005, I bought it with some cosmetic flaws
(plastic casing is melted in one area, and 1 missing knob) but I've
grown to enjoy its capabilities. I especially like the strings it's
cabable of. And I've managed to create from chaos some FM that gets
my rocks off. I find it lacks a certain low end capacity. But I'd
still take it over a JP8000 any day.

There's days where the money I could make off would come in usefull
for bills and I feel I can part with it, but then theres these days
where I'm insanely attached. I wish I had the production capability
(no DAW anymore) so I could cultivate from it what useful and part
with no guilt...

Jayson
