strange controller 74 response on certain presets...

2008-10-05 by Mibrilane

Hi there folks.

I get odd response on the AN1x on certain presets when I send it
controller 74 (Filter Cutoff) controller messages - the whole preset
will become muted, as though the top filter cutoff level possible is
somewhere in the 20s. This doesn't happen on the synth by itself, only
when it is receiving external controller 74 messages.

It also doesn't seem to matter what synth is generating the controller
74 messages - either the AN1x knobs or ribbon going through my system
and coming back to the AN1x, or the Filter Cutoff knob on my E-mu XL-7
Command Station.

Also, this only happens on certain presets - others respond just fine.
Does anyone have an idea where I should be looking to change
parameters on the AN1x to prevent this kind of controller response?

Based upon your problem description, I would conclude there is a conflicting parameter
set in the Ctrl Matrix. Check if there is a Parameter for VCF Cutoff - then check the Source
and Depth values. The Depth value is probably set to a value that is offsetting to the VCF
Cutoff value in the Scene.

Another idea - if your Voice is a Dual Layer, then the VCF Cutoff values for each Scene
might differ substantially where you are not getting the anticipated results.
