AN1x Volume

AN1x Volume

2008-06-14 by matt tucer

I'm on my second an1x and was quickly reminded of what drove me crazy about my first one. It's too quiet! Next to my ex Juno 60 and now my Kurzweil k2000 and electribe er1 mkll, it doesn't compete in volume. I always have to have the volume knob turn all the way up and it still doesn't stand out in a live mix unless I turn everything else down. Is therea solution to this that I am missing? Thanks

Set the gain on your mixer?

Hello Matt?
where do you plug your AN1X?
The best way is to use a line input on a mixer or an amplifier with multiple inputs and set the gain (if available) of each channel to get the same audio level with each instrument. The microphone inputs are way too sensitive (i.e. the gain is too high) and their input impedance is too low (typically 600 ohms).
If you're using a line input without gain adjustment it could be an impedance mismatch between the AN1X and the amp....
Cheers.
J.F.

This post is absurd.

There are so many ways to boost line level audio it isn't worth the time for
a tutorial here. The main thing is this - the AN1x produces plenty of line
level voltage - in other words, it sends out enough signal to almost any
mixer that it can be set up to be loud in a mix.

Due to the strange individuality of some patches, the final output volume
may not be as loud on some sounds as others. If there is no other way of
boosting the sound due to producing a low voltage, then you might consider a
stereo equalizer box or something equivalent to get more sound out.
