Polyphony in Single mode

Polyphony in Single mode

2008-02-04 by cedrik_meier

Hi,

I recently bought a used An1x.

In general, it seems to work fine, except for one strange thing:

In single mode, there seems to be extremely low polyphony
[POLY/SINGLE, ARP/SEQ=OFF]. I would except polyphony should be 10
notes, but instead, it seems to be more like 3 or so. After striking 2
keys or so, it can also happen, that even if all the sounds have
decayed, on pressing the next key no sound occurs.

This is true even after a full reset for the factory preset sounds
that come in layer mode single.

Strange enough, on setting the layer mode to [DUAL] and activating
only one scene, everything seems to be fine, so I don't really want to
return the system.

Anyone ever expirienced something similar?

I should note that on first shipping, there was some hassle with the
transport: only scratching sounds did come out... The seller did fix
the issue by himself, apparently one of the varistors was jammed by
styrofoam?!?...

Any advice on this?

Thanks a lot,

Cedrik

A friend of mine did. One of the DSP boards (there are two, or there is
a main board and an extra DSP board) is not working. So he has only half
the polyphony.

Could it be that one of the ribbon cables inside the unit has come off?

Hi Peter
- thanks for the hint.

I opened the AN1x today. It took me some time to spot it, but in act
on the main board there sits another small pcb. That one was sitting a
little bit askew.

After fixing this, everything is fine again.

Apart of the polyphony problem, of course most of the sounds did not
have their full depth.

Now it's an awesome instrument.

Thanks again--
