I didn't get an original PSU with mine but the one supplied was a generic 11.5v 600mah. Is this correct for the AN1X? Whats the rating of the proper Yamaha PSU, the manual doesn't give anything away?
Regards
Rob.

It is unregulated (mains transformer followed by a rectifier bridge and a capacitor). It's not far from yours .... i think the lack of maximum current could be a problem, the 0.5 V no because there are internal voltage regulators to provide the "right" voltages (i.e. 5 V DC for the logic circuits, 3.3 V for the static RAM battery ...) which are always lower than the input. When you need higher voltages or split polarity supplies you will find more or less integrated DC/DC converters with a step - up chopper somewhere , or an oscillator driving a transformer . For example to give the classic +/- 15 V for op-amps or D/A converters . Cheers J.F. > > >--------------------------------- > Yahoo! Mail is the world's favourite email. Has someone an idea of the good type : normally closed or normally open switch ? I've read something about it but i've scratched the mail ... If not, i can test it with a SPDT switch and a jack , but .... i tend to be lazy these times ! Cheers J.F. --- avast! Antivirus: message Sortant propre. Thanks for that Jeff. ;-)
I've just got a new regulated 12v 1200mah PSU that was on sale at the local Maplins which I think should be ok.

Rob.

The original power supply is rated at *12 V DC - 700 mA* . It is

It's not far from yours .... i think the lack of maximum current could
be a problem, the 0.5 V no because there are internal voltage regulators

The Yamaha sustain pedal/footswitches like the FC4 and FC5 are normally closed, opposite of almost everybody else who use normally open pedals. Brian

Greetings: As far as foot switches go, Yamaha does not care. It sets the state of the contacts when the synth powers up. In case you ever had your foot on the sustain when you powered up, you get the idea. In any event, you can use a NO or an NC switch. The Volume/CC pedal may be a different story though. I have not bothered to look. Thanks again ! the volume or control pedal are different because they're not switches but potentiometers used either as a variable resistor or as a voltage divider. If the jack has 2 pole + ground (stereo jack), it is a classic voltage divider pot. If there is only the tip and the sleeve (mono jack) the pot is wired as a variable resistor (cursor + one end wired together) . I've never looked at this ....but i have to do.
