Hi Everybody :o)
First of all i like to thank you all for this great community sharing
so much information about this great little underrated synthesizer !
I Need some help with one thing getting me mad:
I`m using the An1X also as a Masterkeyboard and want to controll
volume and sustain of some softsynths.

The Prob ist that the susutain an the volume pedal are not sending any
Midi- Signal, the footswitch does !!!!  This relly makes no sense.
(i use it together with ableton live, the indicator show that
Midi-signal comes in or not).
Is there a way to activate the Midi-Signal ? I went trough the whole
Manual but couldn`t find anything, also not in the Device - Setup.

Anybody got an Idea ? ? ?

On the AN1x, set the [EDIT ROTARY] Knob to the UTILITY/SETUP menu.

Press Ctrl Device until you see FV displayed.

Press Ctrl No to change the value to 7: MainVol

Repeat the above procedure for FC and FS as necessary.

The default value for FS is 64: Sus Sw

Hi Jon, thank you very much, but i already tried that and didn`t work.
No Midimessage coming out to the sequencer. The only Output that sends
a Midimessage is the Footwitch. Both others are dead.

Hello !
What is the revision of the internal software? If it is too old, try to 
find the last one by some Yamaha sevice center . It is only an EPROM to 
change inside the synth ...
Have a look at your soft sequencer to check if some midi messages are 
not filtered , or some controller numbers not allowed or something like 
that.... Because you have 2 things connected together you have to check 
both ends ;-)

Very odd...did you do as Jeff suggests and double check whether there is any MIDI event 
filtering occurring in your software Seqeuncer?

What kind of MIDI Interface or patchbay are you using? I've worked with some multi-port 
MIDI Interfaces that allow MIDI Filtering to occur before the output reaches the Sequence. 
MIDI Patchbays offer similar functionality.Did you try programming the FC instead of the 
FV (make certain to swap the plug connector accordingly, obviously ;-)

What happens if you program one or more Knobs (using the Ctrl Device and Ctrl No 
switches under UTILITY/SELECT) with the MIDI CC's 7, 64, etc.? This would at least confirm 
whether the issue is with the MIDI Ports or the Foot controllers themselves.

Have you checked the polarity of your foot pedals  - do they match your Yamaha gear?

Have you performed a factory reset of the AN1x?

Just some ideas...hope this helps.

Another idea : do you send your MIDI data through a "merge box"? Many 
"merge boxes" use to filter drastically the incoming data such as 
aftertouch or any continuous controller data in order to limit the data 
flow processed by the \ufffdcontroller chip inside ...And it's not always 
written somewhere in the user manual ...Many \ufffdcontroller chips (PICs, 
80C52 and similar devices) have only a few hundred bytes in RAM .
In case, remove it and plug directly the MIDI out of the synth to the 
MIDI in of your computer.
Be careful with the MIDI to USB converters too... for the same reason.
