I do not think you're too conservative. I got lots of hardware synths
here around, computers and soundcards. And though it finally looks
like there is no virtual AN1x at all, I'd give it a try to find out.
Not to replace the hardware because it cannot.
And I have to agree software instruments really make most sense when
it comes too MOOG Modular e.g.
