Hey mzklwakado, OK, this might rub a lot of people the wrong way (considering this is the AN1x group), but I'm going to recommend that you go ahead and look for another groovebox. I say this because the AN200 will not MIDI-sync properly with external devices. I have a Korg ES-1, which will trigger and sync with other MIDI devices perfectly well. However, when I use it to control the AN200, the two boxes fall out of sync relatively quickly. I have gone into the MIDI settings on the AN200 many times attempting to fix this, until finally I read online that there is a flaw with the MIDI implementation that is known to Yamaha, but they aren't going to provide a fix. Whatever you use (sequencer, groovebox, laptop, etc.), the clock on the AN200 is going to get out of step. Don't get me wrong - I love my AN200. I just don't use it with my ES-1. I have a Suzuki SP-5 keyboard, which has an EXTREMELY simple sequencer (it's old, OK) that basically acts as a start/stop button. I trigger the AN200 with that, and of course I also play the keyboard. That's why I bought it - to use as a modular synth. And it's awesome, when you accept those limitations. So if your looking for a box to make beats or whatever in time with your other machines, get a different groovebox - such as the Roland MC-303, which is similarly priced but far less programmable. But, if you want a truly programmable synth with a drum machine to boot, keep your AN-200.
