just few things to add to Jon precise notes (as always :-) 

the an1x doesnt send midi clock out 
it only synch to midi clock in 
lfos dont synch to midi clock either 
and lfo2 is pretty simple 

u may know already .. but just in case ;-) 

and did u try the Waldorf Q ? 
it has almost everyhting .. u need 
encoders that dont jump
a cool VA 
step sequencer from the panel 
etc etc etc 
midi clock synch to in and out 
lfos do too ! and they are 3 

i would also look at the access viruses a b c and expecially the new 
TI .. coming soon, even if i dont know how they handle there 
parameters jumping as they have plain knobs and not rotary encoders
