Re: [AN1x-list] Drum kits on AN1X?

2000-07-04 by jondl

Hank,
As you've no doubt deduced a generic category such as Percussion might
be considered all inclusive whether dealing with an analog synth or
virtual analog synth. There are a few factory presets that give you an
idea of what the AN1x can do so far as electro percussion is concerned.
Try preset #19 Seismic or #23 Plastik or #24 ChinaTech. I'd suggest
enabling/disabling the SEQ/ARP for each of these voices to get an idea
of how they are programmed. You *can* coax analog percussion out of the
AN1x with fairly good results but *don't* expect to program it like a
TR-808.

If you want to try your own perc voice from scratch - I'd suggest the following:

1) Init an AN1x voice to 'Normal'
2) Use a Saw wave for OSC1 - reduce the VCA sustain amount to '0' -
increase the Feedback amount to taste.
3) Reduce the Ptich of OSC1 to -12 or -24 - increase the Ring Mod amount
to taste - enable Unison mode.

These simple tweaks will get you on your way in no time.

Good luck!

Jon
