[AN1x] Re: editor hangs (Update)

2003-10-29 by Lothar Mueller

Hi all,

last night i played around, but didn't find a way to improve things:

first i installed my parallel port MOTU Pocket Express (2x4). then i
tried Bruce's trick of using both channels (e.g. Ch. A Out, Ch. B In;
i even tried different Midi interfaces like in Motu Ch. A Out, SBLive
Midi In). but still the same: everytime i select multiple patches in
the editor (or activate "SELECT ALL") and then click the "Request"
button to receive patches from my synth the first patch comes across
well, but then the editor displays its error message "Receive error".

Did i mention that i never had any problems *SENDING* multiple patches
up to the synth? The problem only occurs when i try to create a backup
of all my synth's patches.

i also tried to monitor the midi data using Midi-Ox, but as expected
there were just hundreds of hex numbers all over the place that didn't
give me the least hint of what was going on...

i know, i know, an1xedit didn't cost me a thing, but this behaviour
still is annoying.

next thing i'll try is using my office notebook running under WinXP.

meanwhile, if someone here has a good idea what i could try next
(apart from re-installing win98!!) i'd be very glad to hear about it.

thanks again,

- Lothar -
