articles in the Tips & Tricks specific to your question on running 
AN1xEdit in parallel with Cubase. Please navigate to the Tips & Trick

Navigate down to the bottom of the page and you'll find two html docs:

tt_plg150an_cakewlk9.htm (specific to Cakewalk)

and

tt_plg150an_cubase5.htm

I think you'll find these documents will help you configure AN1xEdit 
to run alongside Cubase as does Ray's post.
