I can read and write music, but "it don't mean a thing if..iagt..swing" It has helped though in the past. In the case of playing on a recording where parts were written that the creator of the track or song wanted. I would get a sound, thinking or "not" thinking about the music, read the part and then got it down. Although I like it when someone plays or sings me something and then I just feel it from that. If you want to read some classical, or get some chords from a song, or to remember, can help. But I just record to remember for myself. One company made a computer program that will figure out a single melody and write it down. Pretty cool, I guess. Don't really need too. Hope that helped in some way.. chalk DMANX@... wrote: Hello All, How many on this list can read and write music?is it necessary these days if you are into analog-hardware/soft-synths?
