While gameport MIDI connections are not the best solution, they can be 
made to work and mine works (worked, it's not connected now) fine with a 
SoundBlaster soundcard.

There are issues, though, with the AN1x and certain gameport MIDI ports. 
It could be that the Live is one of those, but I don't have any personal 
experience with them.

Make sure the MIDI out of the AN1x goes to the MIDI in of the computer, 
and vice versa.
