Hello,

i have also switched form 98 SE to XP some time ago 
and i have a midiman audiophile (midiman driver) card and a Hoontech 
YMF744 (WDM windows XP driver) that run on paralell and then i go 
out to a roland a880 close to the PC and then in the rack to a KMX16 
where all my synths are connected :-) 

both works very well the midi is faster on the midiman
i use an1xedit  Sdiver 3.04 logic 4.82 cakewalk soundforge cooledit pro 
and many others audio applications wiht no problems 

98 SE was ok but FAT was a pain and occasionaly i had 
frozen tasks and also RAM stealing  
to be fair the NTFS file system and the task manager 
control really make the difference on w2k and XP not to mention 
better RAM handling 

i have w2k at work since many years and now XP home since 8 mounths 
they really never crashed ! 
 
maybe is the USB midiman driver but i have also a parallel MIDI 
interface from Midiman on a small notebook where i also use an1x edit 
and works very well too !
