Sync works on the principle of locking harmonics of one oscillator to another. These changes will only be heard if you modulate the oscillator that the sync is latching to (or is that the other way round??)- Sync produce that (IMO) horrible 80's sound- to get screeming lead type sounds. But it can be used subtley to create other waveform timbres. What this function does (the parameter you describe) is link sync with FM- for all matter of "sounds from hell"!- Carefully used, you can get some wonderful DX100 type noises- but remember, the FM on the AN1x is very basic- and is not algorhymic- unlike the DX series. I hope this has answered your question! Tom
