Hi Scott, >I've tried to run An1x Edit under 2000 and I have a problem. > >I cannot play the An1x's as the master keyboard. It responds if I hitt he >little graphical keyboard at the bottom but not if I actually play it. > >Has anyone else encountered this ? > >I also know several users of MicroQ knobs are having a similar problem (as >am I), all this worked fine under 98 SE. I've encountered different, but possibly related, problems under Win2K. I have two MIDI interfaces on my PC: a Midiman 2x2 USB, and a "legacy" joystick interface. Both worked fine under Win98SE. The legacy interface will not work with AN1xEdit at all. If I try to send or receive patches, the transaction fails with a timeout error, usually with little or no data sent. The USB interface works most of the time, but sometimes hangs during editing, requiring a reboot. When it works, it works great, and I can save or retrieve a full set of patches and sequences. When using Media Player to program MIDI Solutions boxes -- very small SysEx files -- the legacy interface works fine, while the USB interface usually fails to program the device. Both interfaces work under Cakewalk Pro Audio 9.03. Based on this data, I've "concluded" -- a dangerous word, given the minimal information I actually have -- that there is some driver or communications mode problem in Win2K. Apparently, Cakewalk knows about this and works around it. I upgraded to Win2K for the stability, and because Win98SE did not like > 512MB of RAM. Unfortunately, Win2K MIDI support isn't what I had hoped it would be. (I have a couple of other apps that won't even work in Win2K.) I've been holding off upgrading to XP for a bit, but I may have to eventually do that.
