Yeah, the behringers are about as budget as I'd recomend anybody to go. I think they offet the best bang for the buck at a 'just reasonable sturdiness'...the sliders and buttons are not flimpsy only by a hair's width. (I own the mx2004 myself)... If you do get a behringer get one with the sweepable mid and remeber: but more ins than you think you'll need...(you'll ALWAYS NEED MORE) it's just very cool te reroute your effects into a new channel for further processesing (i usually eq my reverbs to get rid of the low frequencies, stuff like that)

  I have to say that I just bought a Behringer MX1604A and MPX-100 and am very happy with both. I considered the Phonic, but a lot of people don't have anything good to say about them. The construction of the Phonic compared to the Behringer seemed a little cheaper to me, also.

  The manual for the Behringer sometimes reads like old stereo instructions, but I'm making progress. 
  The Lexicon Manual is very good and detailed.
