If you like to hear what I did with > it you can listen to "Interstellar Jazzcafe" Hey Mike: If I look up lush in the dictionary, I think I'll find your music there. I really enjoyed both of the tunes I downloaded: Aura and Interstellar Jazzcafe (IJ). Of the two I prefer IJ, possibly because I am a hyper individual. I also think the IJ leads are pretty inventive and the song makes me feel like I am travelling (through space). I don't think of a jazz cafe (cool idea) but I definitely think it is spacey in an exotic way. Some of my favorite moments are listed below with some questions (I visited your site and tried to do some synth spotting while listening). IJ: - Cool bass sound, pumping away. Deep even on mp3. What is that synth? - Nice light snare sound contrasts nicely with the deep bass. It sounds like it has a pretty big reverb tail (individually processed?) - Rich string pad comes in at 48 seconds (very analog.. is that JP8080?. I reminds me a lot of the sounds that the Elka Synthex used to make.) - At 1.30 a cool whistle/voice comes in. Very nice. - And of course the lead at 2.00 is a killer sound. The strong sync aspect makes me think it's a nord. Is it? It sounds a bit like the lead that closes out Aura. - There was lots of nice ear candy along the ride, which I enjoyed (sweeps and gurgles). Aura: - Well the Vangelis references came through pretty well. I think I recognized the 'plucked analog' things. I was never a fan of that sound, but you do it very well. Very tasteful. - The pad bed is very nice. Sounds like a mix of pads from different synths. - The transition at 2.30 is pretty awesome. I like the toms that set it up. - I do wish there was something new happening in the rhythm department during the final lead. Maybe bring up the snare a little? I love the lead itself, but it feels a little out there on it's own..... (I am a hyper listener of course....) - I like the lead sound itself and the grunts you get out of it at then end of the phrases. Very musical and distinctive. What is that synth? the nord? Thats a lot of questions. Feel free to pass on some of them (some people like to share and other find it irksome). I was very impressed. I have a general question too. Given that you have a stable of VA's, what types of sounds do you find yourself going to the AN1x for. > So what's YOUR favourite preset? I'm very curious to hear about > that... My favorites are the strong lead sounds like Minispace and Floyd75. I got a good set from Peter Krisher at Easy sounds, which I have been modifying. One of those sounds (Fat Vint) was modified and pressed into service for "The Isles Shall Wait". (the lead runs from 1.30 to 2.00 in the song). That would be my favorite sound at this point.
