AW: [AN1x-list] Use both AN1x and The Waldorf's Pulse!

2001-03-12 by Marlon Jürs

Hi Joergern!
I also have to disagree. I know all synths you mentioned. some of them you
can use in 32" Feet but they are not that fat! Analog-Synths have to use the
patent of the 24 db-Moog-filters to create fat-bass sounds. I also got the
good old Moog-Roueg. A typical Bass-Synth from 1981. This Synth is similar
fat compared with the pulse. But: you can't control the filters per midi.
(But the amount-generator sounds very unique!!! ; ) ) But this machine is
nowadays hardly to find.

I know the good old trick of combining synths, but the pulse it is not
the only one out there with a fat sound an in my opinion not the best
there is, so before you get overexcited by this synth, try some of the
old analoge synths from the 70's like for example the Roland SH-5, SH-2
(Not the in my opinion crappie SH-101 from the 80's) the Korg 700s the
Oberheim 4 voice the EMS Synthi A or the VCS3 (You can even by a new EMS
at http://www.ems-synthi.demon.co.uk/ :-). You get the at least the same
fatness but you definitely gets a lot more dynamic and personality than
the pulse. The only problem with these old synths beside they are old
rare and sometimes very expensive is the lack of midi. But hey there are
midi to CV gate intefaces out there.
