Bruce and Ray,
Just to add something here
the connector type  called 'DCB'
Roland have a unit called MD8 and it is a Midi to Dcb
and DCB to Midi converter box.
the features are very limited:
all 16 midi channel
note on note off . ( maby sustain ?)
fully polyphonic .
the only  synths that can use it are:
Jupiter-8 and Juno-60.
I've got a MD-8 box to control my JP-8a ( a is for the DCB connector...)
I don't think that it does anything else but I may be wrong.
