Hi Robert, 1. Blinky lights = ok. Yes, it's weird, but maybe Yamaha was just trying to entertain us. 2. The upgrade rom doesn't seem to be necessary, but it is available if you nag Yamaha. 3. Aftertouch is certainly available, but if somehow it is not routed correctly in the Ctrl Device Utility in the Matrix, it won't work. You might try a full system reset to factory presets to be able to examine things easily. I forget how to do this (manual not nearby)... anyone else know how to reset?
