Hi George,

I discovered a very similar sounding 'Darude' patch on my Proteus2000
recently. Unfortunately, I can't recall what the name was. I was also less
impressed to discover what sounded identical to the 'Vengaboy's' "Vengabus"
lead as a straight preset from my JP-8080.

Oh, and yes you're correct Bjørn, the RM1x uses samples as the basis for its
waveforms.

Hope I didn't get your hopes up on this one, because I don't know (I really
wish I did, though). But I do believe Darude uses among others the Yamaha
RM1X, possibly also for the sound you're mentioning.

Don't know if the fact that AN1X also being an Yamaha should have an impact
on the possibilities for making that sound. If you know anybody with a RM1X,
visit them and maybe find out if it's possible on that one
(RM1X=sample-based?).

I have had similar problems reproducing several buzzy/fat sounds used in
commercial techno/trance on the AN1X. (e.g. the lead on Porn King's "Up To
No Good") They probably use samplers and powerful audio processor to do that
kind of thing.

This probably didn't help you much, but it's a joined cry for help about how
to make these megafat sounds on the AN1X.
