Too bad about Synthfool - I didn't realize he was going to shutdown
that 'site. He had some good content - including the 'Truth Zone'.
This was a page where he detailed the legal wranglings between Roland
Corp. and himself regarding his Roland S-series mods. Apparently
someone took liberty with his design specifications, i.e., ripped him
off. Roland Corp. continued to promote the 'rip off' designer's
product in their literature/advertising after he requested they stop.
They agreed to stop but didn't and the litigous nature of the
conflict escalated from there. What's really sorry is Lightener use
to work for Roland! The 'Truth Zone' had copies of all the
threatening correspondence from Roland's legal counsel, etc. It was
pretty interesting reading. Moral of the story: Just because these
companies make cool instruments doesn't mean they're nice people.
Surprise ;-)

I can respect his reasoning for shutting down Synthzone - I even
agree with much of it. I've been paying for my site out of pocket for
18 months and have turned no monetary profit. The effort put into the
the advertising and promotion has been a bust - I won't make that
mistake again! The real rewards lie elsewhere: making new
acquantances, learning more about my instruments, further develop my
communication skills, etc. I'll probably give my site http://www.jdlx-
musique.com/ until summer and make a decision then. Now, if I can
only make time to complete the updates to the AN1x page that are
sitting unfinished...
