I know this is not what you asked..but I know the mc303 can do this (albeit not really since it jumps back the midisetting to it's internal sounds all the time, instead of keeping the ext. midi setting.) What I've heard about the rm1x is that it is actually very good for this kinda stuff...are you thinking of buying one?
