Yes, but "cable" is not completely true, "interface" should be better.
You have 2 MIDI cables, IN and OUT, their data towards and from the synth (or other MIDI device) must be merged and sorted ttowards a single USB socket. The little box in the middle or around the USB connector is not only a support for the LED(s) blinking with the data flow.
