Are your cables soldered the right way? Do you notice lack of bass in the sound in ableton?
Compare between the Ableton version and the headphone out on the AN1x.
If unbalanced to balanced cables are manufactured in a faulty way it results in loss of bass frequencies and loss of level.

being a new card and balanced i would say its a 10k balanced sourcedont know what the an1x output impedance isbut impedance miss match can cause volume problemsSent: Saturday, January 18, 2014 8:57 AMSubject: Re: [AN1x] RE: Low volume output

For your imput level problem it could be the same : the input impedance of your sound card may be too low for the AN1x line output.Something else to note: When I'm programming with headphones, the volume has to be about 2/3 to all the way up in order for me to get a strong signal.
Does this sound normal?
Cheers.
