Re: [AN1x] osc sync

2013-12-21 by jammie

where does he get the sin wave from
on page 61 it tells you the waves available
when vco1 is set to not sync you have available saw pulse saw2 and mix of saw+pulse
now when sync is on
osc1 has available saw pulse innr1 innr2 innr3
now what ever the master is set to the slave will be the same you CANT choose
a different waveform for master and slave
slave will always be set to the waveform of the master
unlike analog synths that you can change different waveforms on each osc but because the vco1 is one osc
and splits into 2 it can only have the same waveform but its outcome is the same
one of my favorite sync synths is the dss1 and the dsm1 as you can use additive waveforms and can have different one on each osc and set to unison you can have all 16 osc play and sync at the same time very fat sounds

when in sync mode osc 1 becomes a dual osc with master and slave osc
what ever the master osc is set the slave osc waveform is set the same but resets on the starting of the osc master waveform so any modulation put on either the slave will always reset to the starting of the master osc waveform
which is the same for most master slave osc
but the an1x in this mode also has osc 2 still which can have any waveform set
and so you get a 3 osc synth
this is what sets it apart as a va synth from the jp8000
the master and slave osc are summed going into the mixer which is osc1 mixer input as its still only osc1

The AN1x is selfsyncing with an virtual master oscillators, therfore
its like having a 3 Oscillator synth.
Since in case of sync the master simply resets the slave waveform and
otherwise has no real purpose, typically been removed mixer wise,
it's no loss.
