It seems to me that the only reason to buy a used ES Rack now is to get the slots for 2 PLG cards. The ES onboard Motif synth is nice and has effects that can be used with the PLG cards. But although the new XS Rack does not have PLG slots, it has a much more modern and an incredibly expressive Motif voice implementation.
