The Yamaha AN1x Synthesizer mailing list

I wrote a bass patch and named it this morning. I had to redo a reggae bassline. I could have use any number of sounds in the computer, but it it was easier to just plug the synth in (if I weren't feeling lazy this morning, I would have plugged in the big bass amp and mic'd that). 

I used a single osc patch, just a square wave with the edge turned down a little. The knob that controls the filter is broken so I had to gently tap it until I got a number I could live with. I set it for legato, single mode, with no effects. Fast attack, long decay and sustain, short release. I even named the patch.

Every year I find myself using fewer and fewer of the AN1x's features. Instead of complex busy free EG and different filters with 4 oscs and FM and osc sync, I'm making minimalist patches.

This song is the first song I've recorded that's all AN1x (except for the singing and the drums).
