Re: [AN1x] Atari ST / Cubase + Mu128 / PLG150AN

2012-01-09 by Jeff

Hi Ashley !
The Atari ST was one of the first home computers that can handle MIDI
data, and the first that can do it right out of the box.
If you want to use your ST you have to store your AN1x patches as .mid
files, an1 and other proprietary format files are not recognized by
ATARI. You can use MIDI-Ox or other similar basic MIDI tool to store
your patches as .mid files on your PC or Mac and then find some way to
transfer them to your ST (serial port ? disquette ?). Beware : ATARI
disquettes were formatted at 1Mo, 1.44 Mo on a PC. Mac ? I don't
know.... 1.44 Mo i guess...
I know you can find (but where??? i don't remember) freeware ATARI
emulators to run the once famous ATARI games like "Prince of Persia" and
others on a PC. Maybe it's some kind of way...
Or, more simply, try to store them directly in your ST, it should work
but likely you cannot do anything else ...
Of course if the ST has some MIDI sequencer software like Pro24 you can
use it with your AN1x, the note and channel codes are recognized.
Happy new year and
@+
J.F.
