RE: [AN1x] In search of OS v1.04 bin file

2009-10-31 by Ed Edwards

Pha and phoo I say to my good friend, Jon.

It won’t degrade this list in any way by helping abandoned synthisists bring
their machines up to “final upgrade from factory” level.

I have participated on many synth lists that exchanged eprom bin files and
eeproms for the purpose of helping out a fellow user whom the manufacturer
has abandoned to “go buy our new one, your old junk isn’t worth supporting”.

I think the issue with this proposal is that of time and effort - and
perhaps trust in that the exchange of the EPROM would be handled adequately.

I've the v1.04 EPROM installed and I retained the v1.02 that was factory
delivered. In theory I could fallback from one to the other, but I can't say
I'm in any hurry to disassemble my AN1x. And the potential of creating a
cottage industry of EPROM replacements that are mostly unwarranted is even
less appealing... not the direction I'd like to see this mailing devolve
into.

Just my opinion, not trying to impugn anybody integrity or good intentions.

Regards,

Jon
