I have a K-station, and an AN1x. The sound of the k-station is comparable to the Xio.
If you are looking for a good controller with direct computer connection and a decent VA sysnth built in, the Xio synth will do fine.
If you want a VA synth that sounds IMHO as good as a Nord, Virus A or a roland JP8000, the AN1x is the way to go. And is 4 octaves, great for live use.
Even if you are not a sound designer, there are so many banks available on the net, you will be able to find the sounds you need for your music. : )
