Arthur, Holding the Assign button while powering on the AN1x is used to switch between Mode 1 and Mode 2 - which is Yamahaspeak for alternating between Control Change Modes (see page 9 of the AN1x Data List for the specifics.) This is very useful to to extend the range of parameters (CC #'s) the AN1x will respond to and transmit, but I find it difficult to accept this alone would clear the issue you've experienced. Don't get me wrong - I'm glad your AN1x is behaving as expected, but I think it more likely this indicates the problem is intermittent.
