oms new studio setup contains no check boxes

hi,
I am trying to get an1xedit up and running in classic mode on my ppc. 
Unusually when I try to do a new studio setup no checkboxes appear next 
to the port I wish to select. It recognises my tascam fw-1804 but no 
checkbox. Any ideas?
