Re: [AN1x] I just picked this classic up for a song, now I need to learn how to use it...

Hi Kevin and welcome! :-)

The AN1X isn't the best at Hammond/Rhodes type stuff but if you want 80's synth sounds then its a top buy and the keyboard is about as good as none weighted keyboards get (better than a K2000 imho).
Try some of the user patches in the file section of this group and download the free software editor from Yamaha as the AN1x interface is its Achilles heel.

have fun ;-)

I am new to this forum and new to the AN1x. I know how powerful it is
from all of the reviews that I've read. My real purpose for buying
this board is to use it in live performances with my band. I just
turned 40 in January and was begged to play keyboard again after a 15
 year hiatus.

With that being said, I am looking for a mentor on this forum who I
can start an effective dialog with. Someone who has used the AN1x in
a live setting and preferably someone who is familiar with 70s & 80s
music from artists such as The Doors, The Allman Brothers, Van Halen,
REO, Journey, Foreigner, Whitesnake, etc. But I understand that I
can't always have it all so if I could just correspond with someone,
male or female, who knows what this keyboard can and can't do, I
would greatly appreciate it if that person would contact me.

 Thanks a million,

 Cheers,

 Kevin
