You can download the editor from www.yamahasynth.com. It functions as a plug-in for XGWorks, so you will also need XGWorks Lite (which I believe you can download from the same site, for free). XGWorks Lite will work under XP, but you may need to download an update for it, which is also available at the above site. > > > >also, how can you access just the synth sounds and not the pcm sounds > >from the front panel? Not sure I understand the question... Are you saying you don't want to use the drum sounds? The easiest way is to erase the drum tracks from an existing pattern, save it, and then use it as a template to create new patterns. > > > >i got this thing cos i thought it was a AN1x in a box but it seems like > >the sounds are embedded with the drums.. Not exactly... There is 1 synth track and 3 drum tracks saved with each pattern. If you don't want to use the drums you can mute or erase those tracks. The AN200 is similar to the AN1x but not the same. It's sort of like a scaled down version - similar (same?) sound engine, less polyphony. > > > >am i better off with just getting the AN1x? or will the software really > >make all the difference? The software makes a HUGE HUGE difference. You can access a lot of parameters with the editor that you cannot access via the front panel controls. It gives you much more flexibility in programming your sounds and IMO is very much worth it. If you use the editor, there really isn't much of a difference between what you can do with the AN200 vs the AN1x.
