Hi Brian !
are your sound data fitted with the "right heading" ? I.e. : sysex 
message + instrument id (each manufacturer and instrument have their own 
id code, to prevent sending any data anywhere), followed by the patch 
data . If not, the sysex message is send by the editor, but without any 
effect on your synth .....
