Maybe you can get it for free on some synth related website .... this 
instrument is now out of production. I don't have any idea on the Yamaha 
customer support service , i think it depends on the country . The 
japanese Yamaha site has a "download" page , just take a look . On 
another hand the Kawa\ufffd - US website has lots of manuals and  patches to 
download for their old gear, the japanese or french ones no.... I have a 
Kawa\ufffd synth too ...

The AN1X editor works on my computer with XP .... but i don't use it 
intensively: i'm an old school knobs tweaker. No crashes or locks of the 
software, that's sure, but ....is everything OK is another question !

Try a full reset of the AN200, if you did not program your own sounds 
(they will be lost..)  :
1) Turn the power OFF.
2) Press and hold down the *[SHOW VALUE]*, *[PATTERN]*, and *[EXIT]* 
buttons simultaneously then turn the power ON.
Just in case, to make sure that all is OK .....

*Using a MIDI keyboard :*

   1. Connect the MIDI out of the external keyboard to the MIDI in of
      the AN200 (make sure that the transmit and receive channels line up).
   2. Select a pattern that you don't mind erasing and delete it by
      pressing SHIFT, then button *[11]* (PATTERN JOB: CLEAR SEQ function).
   3. Select the track to be recorded. For this example, select the
      synth track.
   4. Press the *[RECORD]* button.
   5. Press the *[PLAY/STOP]* button and while it loops around, play
      some notes on the keyboard.
   6. Press the *[PLAY/STOP]* button when this track is finished.
   7. Repeat steps 3-6 for additional tracks.

*Using a AN200 as a Tone Generator*
There are two applications that might be described this way and two 
different ways to accomplish it.

/Multitimbral Recording/
The AN200 can be set up to receive on 4 discrete MIDI channels. It 
defaults to Synth on Channel 1 and Rhythm 1, 2 and 3 on Channels 2, 3 
and 4, but you can set it to any of the 16 channels.

   1. Press and hold the [SHIFT] button and press button [14].
      NOTE: Underneath button 14 is the MIDI parameter area with "SETUP".
   2. Continue to hold the [SHIFT] button while repeatedly pressing 
button [14] to cause the AN200 to scroll through the 4 voices and 
channel assignments (Syn, R1, R2 and R3), and allow the other MID 
parametes such as Clock Source (internal or external) and the MIDI THRU 
status (on or off) to be set.

/Live Set Up/

   1. Connect the MIDI out of the keyboard/controller to the AN200 MIDI in.
   2. Set the keyboard MIDI transmit to the same channel as the AN200 
receive channel (don't forget to connect the AN200 up to PA/speaker 
system). Use the User Preset Pattern area as a ''User Patch Bank'', 
tweak the knobs to achieve the desired sound and save it in a preset 
pattern. The pattern itself doesn't have to have any step sequence data 
in it (of course it can, if necessary).
(found right now on Yamaha website....but the "download" page is 
unfortunately locked today !)

Basically the AN200 is half an AN1X with extra PCM sounds , mostly 
percussions. The software does not add nothing but makes the sound 
edition easier ...
