Some comments-

Though the 258v was incredibly tempting I decided not to try to get
one because I didn't want something I'd be surely using very
frequently to be a module without the "e" features.

As for the 255 and 297, I see those as design challenges Don seems
to have decided to take up and then offer to the public. I definitely
see a feeling of wanting to see them built but not seeing them as
part of a whole 200e system, more like special use accessories.
Again I'm tempted to some degree but then again I'd like to get at
least one of all the "e" modules first... (I guess the 249e will be a
challenge).

I am disappointed by the storage limit of one 210e as I was thinking
about 2. I have one on order for 6 months, hopefully coming very soon
and have used one before on someone else's system ...so I'm about to
develop my working methods rather than have any real insight to
report. I guess it's still quite possible to just use the module's
internal memory on more than one 210e without card storage, correct?
That's something I'm sure I could live with though it's annoying.

if (as i suppose) it closely resembles the original 258, then it's a very
useful thing for anyone to have, all by itself..

i guess i really should make some audio with a 297 and post it. i like the
module a lot, and i don't typically care about phasers. it's also an
envelope follower...

it all depends what you need for your music. if you need a slew generator,
you need a 255. i find it invaluable as a bank of "slow knobs," sometimes.

you're correct. people have different use patterns; personally i've never
even thought about needing to use a preset card. i guess if you really rely
on presets for performance or something, it would be necessary. i still
wouldn't like relying on a tiny piece of portable flash memory to store my
all-important presets, any more than i would keep a single copy of all my
software projects on a single USB stick. as always, if a synth makes a sound
you like it's a good idea to record it....
