I would suggest going with Dons intended 201e cases for the 200e system.. its much more portable and lightweight then the older style 203 cabinets..due to the increased functional density of the 200e vs the 200 I would say its probably a bit of overkill anyway (just my opinion)
a "203e" would require more then one of the power buss boards since they were spec'd to only power a certain number of modules.
re: cloning.. I think rather then assuming Don is cool or is not cool with it (be it a cabinet or module or power board)... it would make more sense to simply call him and discuss your ideas/plans/concerns.. I find Don very friendly and approachable.. I am sure he would be happy to discuss his opinions on why he does or does not choose to recreate his older instruments with anyone willing to show him the respect of a conversation on the subject.
I think its important to point out that by supporting 3rd party products you "the investors" are denying essential development funds to Buchla & his Associates who otherwise have no way to fund new instrument designs and support currently available products... I'd personally like to see some more new modules for the 200e.
Buchla can be contacted at 510 528 4446
