Thanks guys! All sorted - bought a 500W rated isolation transformer and continuous unit. And she came to life! 

Figured as it is only in a studio a really good transformer would be better than converting it internally.- cheaper also. $150AUS.



This group is a great resource, thanks to those who helped out.


What's the best way to use the cs-80, is it ok to keep it running for 8-9 hours at a time in a well ventilated room , or should I turn it on and off as required. I know it takes a while to warm up etc.. 

Also anyone recommend a good stand for it?
The grills underneath look like they have taken the weight of a stand from the previous owner..

CS should be OK.

to be safe you should overate your stepdown transformer, so you've got a nice bit of headroom.

Make sure that it's rating is for continuous, and not peak power.
I'd go for a 250W -300W continuous rating... that's probably going to equate to a peak rating of 500W-750W.

Just check it's output if there's voltage. If yes, you can check fuses in CS, but they are probably OK. 

And never leave electric devices on when walking outside. Especially with unknown machine you switch on for the first time. I'd never do such thing. You never know which problem can appear, maybe even fire. That would be expensive lesson.

Hiya got  a cs-80 from LA shipped by FedEX, arrived plugged it in, it is labelled 117 Volt 180W . I used a step-down converter rated at 75W - i used it for my Memorymoog Plus. The CS_80 worked beautifully, left it on went for a walk came back and it was off. The power switch is on but no light! No sound. Did i blow the fuse? Did i do some serious damage? I'm going to the electrical store first thing tomorrow to buy a high rested converter, will she return to life after my abuse?
