The CS80 is hands down the most wonderful synthesiser ever built. Full stop.

Yet, I would never spend all my money on one and be broke afterwards... I would always make sure that I have at least half the sum I spent on it left in order to pay for necessary repairs, spares, and having it calibrated routinely. At 8k of whatever currency the air is getting a bit thin unless you earn big bucks in the whatever industry. And if there´s no qualified tech near you, I´d also save some money on travel costs (like going to England to have Kent have a look at it... and collect the unit again when he´s done ;-) ).

As for which way prices for vintage synthesisers in general and CS80s in particular will go, who knows? I rate them against the pleasure they give me, not their resale value.

This is why I'm drawn to it:

Every time I play a new digital synth it leaves me cold, I need to buy a new instrument but can't find anything I like out there...

Thanks for all the replies. I agree that it's probably too much, even if I got it down to £6k I'd still be uncomfortable with that...

...

Still tempted though!!!
