What do you mean by Scale Voices? So I find Voice 1. Hold A1 at STEP 2 for MIX I. Tune all voices like Then I go to the next steps but at A4? Is that what you mean by scale?-ScottTo: yamahacs80@yahoogroups.comFrom: r_j_d_2.phila@...: Fri, 19 Sep 2008 12:35:01 -0700Subject: RE: [yamahacs80] Tuning

here's how i do it:

-select OSC 1 only.
-tune voices 1-8 at A1.
-scale voices 1-8 at A4.
-check tuning of voices 1-8 at A1, if needed, repeat step 2.
-then tune voices 1-8 at 4,8,16. doesnt matter if you do by voice first or octave, really. i find it easier to do each octave at a time, YMMV.
-select OSC 1 and 2, and follow same procedures but tune to beats, not to tuner.(THIS ONLY WORKS THOROUGHLY IF YOU KNOW THAT ALL VOICES OF OSC 1 ARE VERY CLOSE TO A "TRUE" TUNING. IF YOU TUNED OSC 1 VOICES TO EACH OTHER AND NOT TO A TUNER, YOU HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO END UP OFF DUE TO DRIFT).

good luck. also, i actually find it easier to do voices 1-7, and then go back and do 8 by itself each time, cause i can keep track of the voices without turning on and off. again, YMMV.

Thanks RJ.So when I first tune step 2, do I tune it across the board for all voices first, or do I just start on one voice and tune from 2 to 16?-ScottTo: yamahacs80@yahoogro ups.comFrom: r_j_d_2.phila@ yahoo.comDate: Fri, 19 Sep 2008 04:12:03 -0700Subject: Re: [yamahacs80] Tuning

figure i'd save david a little breath....

-voice 8-correct. 1 note sustained +7 notes triggered=voice 8

-trim pots, from top:

-little blue one-scale

-2

-4

-8

-16

YOU MUST DO THIS FROM THE TOP DOWN!!! 2' offsets all other octaves. ( have forgotten this several times!)

STABILITY: maybe want to redo the thermal grease on the VCO chips? other than that, i would guess you might not be getting consistent voltage supplied to the cards, unless it is the same voice always falling out of tune. good luck.

Hey David.

So my CS80 is out of tune again. It isn't dramaticly off, but it is off a good +12, or +25 cents on some voices.

Do you know why this is happening? How do we get stable tunning so I don't have to open this thing up every week? Also, where on the card do I jiggle to see which Voice I am on?

Thanks

-Scott

Also, to find Voice 8, I need to hold a note down, then press A untill I find Voice 8 correct?

Also, what is the first POT on the voice cards? I think I might have turned those first pots by mistake.

:(
