I am a new member from a few weeks ago. I am a synth service tech from Sydney, Australia, I have been away on tour
for some time and I am finally back home and doing repairs and restorations again. I have owned a couple of CS-80's,
a CS-60 and 50 over the years, I still have one CS-80 which I am currently restoring. It was working OK, but having
been in storage for some time the first thing that I did when I got back from tour was to get it into the workshop and
remove the power supply for re-chipping and re-capping before I even turned it on.
Having done the CMOS replacement and decoupling cap mod on other '80's, I am about to give mine the same
treatment, then I will replace all of the electro's in the voice boards, and finally a full function check and calibration.
I have around 20 other vintage synths, which I use on recording projects, (I am also a recording engineer, so I make
some of the synths available for clients sometimes), and a 60 space Synthesizers .Com modular, also vintage effects
such as AMS reverb and delay, Lexicon Prime Time and such, so maintenance is fairly high.
Currently on my repair bench for customers is a PPG Wave 2.3, a pair of OBxa's, a Rev 3 Prophet 5, a couple of Juno
106's, a Minimoog, a Moog Sonic six, and a few racks and drum machines.
My next project is to have a spring maker produce some new springs for the CS-80 ribbon controller, as mine finally
broke, and to find an electroplater to silver plate the spring.
