Hi Wayne,
If you are tech enough, I suggest you that you unplug the output of the power suppy and load it with a dummy (resistors) load.
I don't remember the resistors values for each output accordig to the voltage and nominal it should drain.
As a general gude think of resistors of low values (less than 50 ohms) and more than 15Watts.
If you need a help with this let me know.
This way if any voltage output is out of its nominal value, you don'y blow ICs (VCAs, VCFs, VCOs., etc.).
I don't suggest you using a variac.
I should have some parts of the manual over there, if you don't find it in another place let me know and I will look for them.
GEEG.

Thanks guys! I am absolutely no stranger at all to the
recap operation. I have a lot of gear and have rebuilt
several power supplies.
Regarding the caps, should I go all out "Computer
Grade"? What brands and temp ratings have you all used
in your rebuilds?
Has anyone ever tried the variac thing with an old
synth?
I was thinking I could ramp up the voltage over the
course of about a day- but I wasn't really certain how
the regulators would take to that. I thought you could
ramp it up and then hit the reset line on the CPU but
maybe that's just wishful thinking.
Should the regulators be changed as well?
I don't have the service manual to the CS-80. Can
anyone tell me what the electrolytic values are? Where
is the best place to obtain a copy of this legendary
doc? cheers, [w]
