OK - UPDATE ...

perhaps It had been too long since i tested those voice chips - but I thought (on your advice) to try the chip swap again.. and luckily I got it to work now by swapping in a good chip from another polysix! The last time I tried this I was in the middle of a calibration which was going 'wrong' so when i swapped chips i got the same result ... but I wasn't concerned with resonance at that time... so that's probably why ... thanks for reminding me to try it again under this circumstance
