Subject: Re: Dead Polysix: No sound on my P6 (nothing

When I picked up my PolySix it made no noise either, but appeared to function just fine in terms of buttons, nobs, etc. I noticed when I cranked the headphones up to full volume that some knob tweaks would alter the hiss but I couldn't get any notes to create sound.

So I kept messing around with settings and hitting random keys until I finally started going through the keys one by one, pushing with extra pressure. When I finally landed on a key that made contact I just about blew out my ear drums.

As it turns out every single key contact was shot. The one that was making contact would only do so if I mashed the key to the point it was about to break.

I tried taking apart the keybed and using a pencil eraser to clean the little gold contacts. And that did the trick...for about a week. I finally bought a key contact replacement from this site: http://www.sounddoctorin.com/

I haven't had a problem since. Just something to think about :)
